Beginning on July 6, 2012, Bertrand was called away from a vacation in the Carribean and assigned to the experiment trial of the mercenary test subject 3A7. She began hearing rumors about the disappearance of her predecessor Abraham Jackson, but resolved to not dig into it.

On August 7, she was put to sleep with 3A7 and transported to the company's top-secret recreation of Raccoon City used for anti-B.O.W. training. She questioned its creation but again resolved not to ask questions, later discovering that the purpose of the experiments were to develop the Zombie Jammer, capable of completely nullifying the threat of Zombies as an enemy.

On August 20, Bertrand received prototype weapons from several firearms manufacturers sponsoring the experiment and decided to test them all at once using 3A7. Following the successful test, she compiled a favorable report on their effectiveness for the sponsors in order to keep them from noticing the experiment's true purpose.

On November 20, she commenced a 3A7 experiment with a survival expectancy of 0% in order to showcase the threat posed by B.O.W.'s, particularly to those heavily invested in them. However, he survived and she was killed for her failure. She was replaced by a new researcher on January 2, 2013.
