Dan Dechant

Dan Dechant was a former United States Army veteran and member of the West African branch of the BSAA (Bioterrorism Security Assessment Alliance). He was one of the BSAA members to enter the highest senior class.

Dechant was a former non-commissioned officer of the U.S. Army before going into early retirement and enlisting in a PMC (private military contractor) whose activities were mainly centered in Africa. He joined the BSAA after witnessing the horrors of bioterrorism involving B.O.W.'s in Africa. He became a member of the SOU (Special Operations Unit) where he rose to the rank of "Captain", making him team leader in most cases.

Operation 849276 (Mar. 2009)

During the operation into the Kijuju autonomous zone to apprehend Ricardo Irving in the act of selling B.O.W.'s, Dechant led the initial Alpha Team. They were ambushed and attacked by infected villagers and a host of the Uroboros Virus, which seriously injured Dechant. He managed to download the contents of Irving's computer to a hard drive, and passed it on to Chris Redfield before dying from his wounds.
