Title

Morpheus D. Duvall

Morpheus D. Duvall was a former Umbrella Corporation employee. He attracted subordinates and held substantial power within the company, but was framed and forced out since he showed threatening behavior against it.

He was obsessed with beauty and desired to consolidate beautiful things around him and become a more beautiful human. He underwent a large amount of cosmetic surgery to retain his youthful looks and although he had the face of a cool and handsome man, his physique was disproportionate due to his womanly figure.

History

Early History

Duvall rose within the Umbrella Headquarters Research & Development Division and was appointed director of a waste disposal site on a small island in the Atlantic Ocean. He was charged with supervising the facility and an underwater biotechnology laboratory within a sub-biosphere at a depth of one hundred meters off the island's coast. Under his supervision, the facility's operations became sloppy and several accidents occurred.

During his employment, Duvall attracted subordinates and gained power but displayed signs of threatening behavior against Umbrella and was considered a threat. Following the biohazard outbreak in the Arklay Laboratory on May 11, 1998, the company framed him for causing the incident and fired him. His section of the development division was claimed to have been responsible for "gross negligence" associated with the outbreak. He was issued a dismissal notice on August 20 for neglecting to take action to advert the crisis as the site's chief. 1

A Kingdom of Beauty (1998-2002)

Duvall saw his dismissal as a betrayal by Umbrella and burned with an intense hatred for the company, but decided he would use them in return. If he obtained $100 billion, he would gather mercenaries around the world to build a military state in Africa, crush Umbrella with the power of the t-virus and then pose threats to the world while working globally behind the scenes as a military and political fixer.

Unknown to Umbrella, he also took over the staff and operations of the abandoned waste disposal site and biosphere and ordered the additional construction of an underwater missile silo. He also advanced development of an ultimate weapon effective against creatures created from the t-virus and G-virus, the Charged Particle Rifle (T-Hunter). 2 3

Duvall organized a terrorist group comprised of cult-like followers who deeply admired him. He planned to load missiles with the t-virus and blackmail the American and Chinese governments for funds while his group was monitored by Umbrella through a spy. In August 2002, as a result of his disregard for supervision and the continued mismanagement of his development division, the t-virus leaked and wiped out all personnel; forcing him to resort to another means of acquiring samples of the virus for the final stage of his plan.

Spencer Rain Incident (2002)

In September 2002, Duvall blackmailed the U.S. and Chinese governments for $50 billion each in order to secure funds for the construction of his kingdom and threatened that if payment wasn't received by midnight on September 23, he would launch missiles carrying the t-virus at major cities in both nations.

On September 18, 2002, Duvall's group attacked the Umbrella Development Laboratory Paris Branch and stole three samples of the t-virus from a trial drug vault. They then sea-jacked the Spencer Rain, a luxury cruise liner owned by Umbrella on which VIPs of many nations were present to attend a secret auction of the company's weapons. While on the ship, he stole a sample of the the latest v.0.9.2 of the t+G-virus, the company's premier product at the time.

After seizing the ship, Duvall leaked the t-virus and infected everyone onboard, including his own followers. He then set the ship on a course for his development division. With the Spencer Rain under his control, the Chinese MSS (Ministry of State Security) and USSTRATCOM (United States Strategic Command) deployed agents to eliminate Duvall. The MSS sent Fong Ling while the U.S. sent Bruce McGivern of the Anti-Umbrella Pursuit and Investigation Team. After McGivern landed on the ship's deck via parachute, Duvall captured him and prepared to kill him. However, Fong Ling interfered by throwing a grenade at the pair, separating them and wounding Duvall in the stomach; causing him to retreat into the ship.

In an attempt to eliminate the agents, Duvall released the Hunter Elite specimens stored on the ship. After this attempt failed, he injected himself with the t+G-virus and became a Tyrant. He took the stolen t-virus samples and crashed the ship on the island housing his waste disposal site, then prepared to launch the missiles at the U.S. and China anyway, but was stopped by McGivern and Fong Ling. Due to damage caused by the Charged Particle Rifle, the virus in Duvall's body went out of control and transformed him into a massive bloated mass within minutes. Due to the uncontrollable increase in size, Duvall exploded and destroyed the biosphere and missile silo.
