Plot Synopsis

Following the fall of Umbrella in 2004, numerous viral strains and B.O.W.s became readily available on the black market, opening a whole new era of bioterrorism. In order to remedy this issue, the United States government announced an anti-bio terror program in partnership with WilPharma, a pharmaceutical company tasked with developing a vaccine to the dreaded T-virus. A state-of-the-art research facility is soon constructed in Harvardville, a mid-sized city with a population of around 100,000. With this announcement, the public grew fearful as to the chances of a recurrence of the Raccoon City incident.

Taking place one year after the events of Resident Evil 4, Claire Redfield is now a member of TerraSave, an organization which handles search and rescue at chemical and biological attacks. Claire arrives at Harvardville Airport to meet a a fellow TerraSave employee and her niece, who's mother and father were killed during a bioterrorism attack in India. After sharing a conversation with a man, later revealed as Frederic Downing, containing mutual disgust towards the Senator Ron Davis,  the scene switches to a passenger aircraft approching the airport to land. An unwary flight attendant checks upon one of the passengers, who appears to be in the late stages of a T-virus infection. He warns the attendant, before he zombifies.

While searching for her friend's neice, Rani Chawla, Claire sees Senator Ron Davis walk by. While a protester masked as a zombie is arrested by a police officer, a real zombie appears and attacks. One of Davis's bodyguard shoots the zombie, while hindered by the reanimated security guard, who had fallen dead on the ground just moments before. The second bodyguard attempts eliminate the zombies, only to be devoured by more zombies. The entire scene causes massive panic as bystanders and citizens start to flee the vicinity, some being attacked by zombies which by now have increased in number. As the public tries to scramble to safety, the plane from earlier on crash lands into the building, occupants already turned into zombies, as they slowly fall out of the airplane, then lurching forward. Claire, Davis, and Rani take refuge in the VIP lounge for Atmos Airlines, along with one of Davis' attendants.

The State Board of Health and local Hardvardville police promptly arrive on the scene, and the entire airport is locked down and cordoned off with all survivors placed in quarantine. The Harvardville S.R.T. (Special Response Team) also arrives on the scene and carries out operations on site. With the area "clean", the S.R.T. team on site receive a 911 call from Claire Redfield. However, rescue operations are stalled. Due to the nature of the incident, the White House dispatches Leon S. Kennedy, a survivor of Raccoon City, to aid the S.R.T. in the area. Leon's arrival is met with the chagrin of the S.R.T. team, as he chooses only two members to accompany him in the rescue operation; Angela Miller and Greg Glenn.

As the three fight their way through the halls and face off against the countless zombies now roaming the airport, they eventually meet up with Ron Davis' secretary, and are soon united with the other survivors. Claire is surprised to see Leon, and an escape plan is conjured. Leon insists that they run across the airport lobby, and is defended by Claire against Davis' scorn. As they head off, they are surrounded by zombies and proceed to fight their way through. In the skirmish, Greg is bitten in the arm by a zombie, doomed to become one himself. Much to Angela's anger and grief, Greg stays behind and holds off the zombies until they reach the lobby.

With an increasing amount of zombies in the lobby, the group prepares to run, but not before Ron Davis panics, knocking Rani down into a zone full of zombies. In a hast effort, Claire jumps after her and attempts to protect her, as Leon is grappled from above by a zombie and Angela is busy holding off others. In a last ditch effort, Leon throws his handgun to Claire, who makes short work of the zombies. With an escape path now in sight, the group flee to the exit, where Ron Davis has already thrown himself into the safety of the U.S. Marines.

With the group now safely out of the airport, the Marines move in to perform the cleanup operation in the airport. Angela is angered at the loss of her comrade, who had already become a zombie by the time they made their exit. Leon reports the situation to Ingrid Hunnigan, who explains that she managed to get the Marines to the airport by submitting a plan to President Graham, who pushed it through with the Special Emergency Act. Claire, angered at the arrival of WilPharma trucks to the quarantine zone, is confronted by Frederic Downing, who is revealed by Ron Davis to be the head researcher of WilPharma. Downing explains that the trucks are carrying a vaccine to the T-virus, which Leon clarifies. Claire is distraught that TerraSave's actions against WilPharma had stalled the arrival of the vaccine throughout the United States. She is consoled by Leon, who explains to her that the path she choose was different from his own, and her brother's. Without warning, an explosion rocks the area.

Claire, Leon and Angela are faced with a rising plume of smoke, emanating from the fiery remains of the WilPharma trucks. The vaccine is now lost. Leon explains to the others that the ones behind the attacks on the airport and the destruction of the trucks want one thing; the truth behind the U.S. government's involvement in the Raccoon City incident. Angela is also distraught to learn that her brother, Curis Miller, an ex-member of TerraSave was also possibly involved in the attacks. Wasting no time, Leon and Angela leave to question Curtis, as Claire and Frederic Downing leave for the WilPharma Air Dome Research Facility.
