Tyrant (T-002 Model) (PACHI-SLOT biohazard)

Classification

B.O.W. Model: "Tyrant (T-002 Type)"
Base Organism: Human

Traits

Height: 262 cm
Weight: 245 kg

Title

Tyrant (T-002 Type)

The Tyrant (T-002 Type) was the second prototype in the humanoid Tyrant B.O.W. (Bio Organic Weapon) series of the Umbrella Corporation. It was a combat model used as the basis of subsequent Tyrants. 1

The T-002 was the pinnacle of B.O.W.s emphasizing combat efficiency with superior intelligence for following complex commands and extremely high durability and endurance. However, its control left concern and was to be improved via feedback from a combat test against elite veteran opponents. It opened the course to Tyrant mass-production with an improved model. 2 3

History

Development (1998)

In 1998, the Proto Tyrant (T-001 Type) was cancelled close to completion due to various defects and Tyrant research continued at the Arklay Laboratory based on its data. Four healthy adult male prisoner test subjects were chosen as prospective hosts. Under the direction of research advisor Albert Wesker, body strengthening surgeries were collectively conducted on the four test subjects. Three died, but the surgery on the remaining one succeeded well and showed favorable progress. 4

On May 11, the t-virus ε strain was injected into the final test subject. However, an accident occurred due to the interference of the Queen Leech, causing the airborne virus to leak and contaminate the laboratory. Development proceeded favorably on the final subject with none of the defects from the T-001. As a biological weapon with both performance and intelligence, the T-002 was to become the ultimate B.O.W. that would earn the company significant money on the military market, as well as power when used as a threat against governments. Afterwards, it merely awaited completion while adjustments were repeated, but the project was soon interrupted.

The tentative success of the T-002 led the Arklay Bio Organic Weapon Research Team to propose a next-generation B.O.W. project based on the Tyrant. 5 William Birkin recovered the T-002's embryo from the Arklay Laboratory and transported it to the secret underground laboratory beneath Raccoon City. As the incident occurred before the research was complete, the Tyrant Project's definitive report was not made, leaving only data submitted just before the incident. A vast amount of combat data was required to demonstrate its superior capabilities, and planning of an actual combat test against elite opponents was rushed. The T-002's embryo was subsequently used to create a smaller and improved model, the Tyrant (T-103 Type).

Over the next few months, the T-002 was left alone in the laboratory and gradually gained a sense of self, rendering it uncontrollable if it were released. It particularly remembered Albert Wesker as its creator, a fact which enabled it to feel anger.

Combat Test (Jul. 24, 1998)

On July 9, the intervention of S.T.A.R.S. (Special Tactics and Rescue Service) was decided to investigate the bizarre murders in the Arklay Mountains. Umbrella schemed to use S.T.A.R.S. as combatants in the Tyrant's final test. The "X-DAY" procedure was issued to Albert Wesker to collect the T-002's combat data and then destroy it along with the facility. The T-002 was deemed obsolete but its combat data was essential to perfect the new T-103. 6

Wesker planned to steal the T-002 and bring it to the rival company of Umbrella as an ultimate gift using its combat data as an incentive to promote the sale. If he were successful, the rival company could use the Tyrant as a threat against Umbrella and governments around the world for power. The elite S.T.A.R.S. fought the T-002 and defeated it in the laboratory. However, the Tyrant's limiter disengaged due to the endangerment of its life and it attacked them again on the heliport with increased capabilities. In the end, it was destroyed by a rocket launcher. Although the loss of the T-002 did not affect Umbrella, it dealt a blow to Wesker's evaluation and reputation in the rival company, forcing him to accept a lower position than he desired.

On July 25, William Birkin formally displayed the Tyrant's combat data to the Umbrella Chicago branch. Influential data exceeding expectation was collected and the results further raised the level of perfection of the T-103. Although the test was a success, since control of the Tyrant was lost, the biological weapon research teams of Umbrella realized that there was still need for improvement. Although uneasiness in regards to control was undeniable, its nature to forever pursue targets until it terminated them provided inspiration to the research team of the Umbrella Europe Sixth Laboratory in France. The researchers decided to use the Nemesis Project to correct the Tyrant’s flaw of control loss, leading to the creation of the B.O.W. Nemesis-T Type. All subsequent Tyrant models were based on the data collected from the T-002. 7

Attributes

Morphology

The T-002's height greatly exceeded an average adult human due to a dramatic secretion of human growth hormone caused by the t-virus. Its genitalia was surgically removed in order to cease the primary secretion of testosterone, limiting its potential aggression to improve control.

Its most significant physical feature was its several independent cardiovascular systems. Two sub-hearts were taken from a large animal and stripped down to the extracellular matrix, the non-cellular material holding the cells of the hearts together. This was then repopulated with the subject's own cardiac progenitor cells, which developed into mature cardiomyocytes transforming the stripped animal hearts into oversized human hearts. As these cells came from the subject, there was little risk of autoimmune rejection, allowing the new hearts to be grafted together and onto the subject.

Artificial cardiovascular systems were routed from the sub-hearts throughout the host's enlarged body. Despite the complicated layout, arterial and venous blood were not mixed. This expansive cardiovascular multisystem achieved strong cardiopulmonary function, increasing mobility and reflexive speed to greatly exceed the record numbers of conventional B.O.W. models. Although the two sub-hearts were exposed outside the body and were a notable weak point, their destruction would only weaken the Tyrant rather than kill it.

Intelligence

The T-002's intelligence and thinking ability exceeded all previous B.O.W. models and included a power of understanding almost equal to a human, able to carry out more and further complicated commands easier than the Hunter. It could recognize distinct individuals and when left alone for a long period following the virus leak accident, it gained the ability to think for itself and experience certain emotions such as anger. This allowed it to defy attempts at control.

Combat

Its primary means of attack was the large claws on its left arm. It could destroy targets in melee combat with these claws by utilizing its power and speed. Alongside high durability and endurance, it had a notable recovery ability as a result of the t-virus which allowed it to quickly recover from wounds. Its significant strength allowed it to break through several layers of concrete, leap great heights and run with unmatched speed, making it difficult for a target to escape pursuit.

S. Tyrant

The S. Tyrant (Super Tyrant) was a strengthened form of the T-002 after removal of its internal limiter due to endangerment of its life. The T-002's limiter was implanted in its body and tracked its vital signs. After falling below a certain threshold, the limiter automatically disengaged, enabling the t-virus to act to its full extent. Its cardiovascular systems expanded allowing increased strength and speed. Although it was an unplanned and irregular state, since its capabilities as a weapon markedly increased this form was in a sense even more fitting as the ultimate ideal form "Tyrant" the developers aimed for. 8
