Out of all the RE games, which one had your favorite music and why?  The music is something we often take for granted, while it can sometimes make or break a game by itself.  Imagine the fight against Birkin without his trademark malformations.....or just play ORC.

All kidding aside, what were your favorite individual music tracks or soundtracks? For me its a tossup between RE2 and RECV, and by extension REDC.

Thoughts?

RE3. My favourite sound track

RE3. My favourite sound track is the police station. It really made that place a nightmare for me and I couldn't wait till get out of there.

Remake was also good, not just for the soundtracks but the clever use of having a mixture of music and completely silent places where you could only hear your footsteps.

Me too. Some of the reworked themes in DC were outstanding, as were some of the original tracks (like the Steve boss fight).

That is, those games have the best music when listened to on its own. Remake's soundtrack is very atmospheric (and in my opinion boring) to an active listener, but it fit the game perfectly.

I'm of the opinion that Code Veronica has the most unique and overwhelming soundtrack of all the games. It really does meld really well into the atmosphere that game created too. Plus Alexia's theme, to me, is just one of the greatest boss themes in VG history.

Oh, and I'd also like to mention Sorrow (Ending Credits) from Resident Evil 4. Not only were the slideshow of pictures depicting the villagers terrible and tragic fate something really memorable, but that track to go along with it just reinforced the weight/meaning of the events.

Somehow, I love 0,1,2,3,CV,4 soundtracks by the same level, each one for what they offer. Code Veronica's save room music is what I use to be able to sleep instead of pills.

Every Biohazard title has

Every Biohazard title has interesting ost basically, but in my opinion BH2 and BH3 are unrivaled so far. It´s not just about nostalgia, but especially all composition is balanced and is comprised of both " calm-horrors-nervous " tracks and  "action" tunes, and both of these categories make gameplay absolutely perfect. In many cases, man wasn´t scared because of various creatures and environments themselfs, but because of combination of the foregoing and this music. If I wanted to mention all my favourite tracks, I would have to add all playlist and not only from BH games mentioned above (e.g. saveroom themes are legendary rightfully within series), but my favourite is always Escape from laboratory piece from BH2 and DC. http://youtu.be/SppXtBx5xEE

CV or Darkside. Both have the same style, but even though the quality of the Darkside Chronicles soundtrack is better, I thought that CV had more memorable tracks like "Murderous Eyes", "The Code is Veronica", "Awesome Powers" or "The Theme of Alexia 1 & 2".

Hard choice, but I would have to agree with RE2 being my favourite. It has my all time favourite Save Room theme and as others have pointed out; the Police Station theme, which set the mood incredibly.

Anything by Masami Ueda. I wholeheartedly recommend the Biohazard Orchestra Album to any RE fan. I would love to hear all the music from RE2 and RE3 played by a live orchestra, it's certainly good enough for it. If I had to go with a single piece, I know I have to say...Secure Place, Resident Evil 2, hands down. Masami Ueda, respect.

I can listen to that track for hours on end and not get sick of it. RE2 in general had amazing music; unfortunately, much of it is "hidden away" on the Complete Track disc.

Yes, I thought Capcom were quite brave with their use of silence to interject the incredible atmospheric soundtrack. It made the use of these tracks far more moving & gives greater effect.

I can listen to the save room music from REmake & RE2 continuously for lengths of time that sometimes concern me.

Also beautiful music too from those safe havens in RE3, RE0 AND The save room music from DEAD AIM ; all beautifully melancholy.

I must also mention in particular the haunting melodies from CVX - A Moment of Relief, and The Main Hall from REmake; also Neptune Tank from REmake is pure zombie desolation.

And like many, my strongest, most endearing memory of my early RE experience originated from my first tentative steps into the RPD building, and on hearing that deeply moving soundtrack, only rivaled by the First Floor soundtrack.

Those tracks create a desperate mood that brings the game out of the screen and into another personal dimension,

Some time ago I collated these & the other dark moody tracks for Crimson Head Elder Radio ~

Code Veronica's soundtrack stood out to me, because it reminded me of RE1's B-Movie feel while retaining the creepiness/cinematic-feel of RE2. It was a unique hybrid of the two styles.

As for my favorite OST, It'd have to be RE2's OST, REZero's Chapel theme https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-2A9aXnC4tI, RE1's basement (makes me LOL) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0kcF7E69C6Q,  and Resident Evil 3.5 Hookman gameplay (some of it was modified for RE4, while the one in the armor passage never made it to my knowledge). If anything of 3.5 ever leaked, I hope for the full OST of the game, which should've been completed, but that's just me.

Resident Evil 2 for me.

Resident Evil 2 for me. Police Basement and The Lab really stand out. Also, Zero, for all its flaws had a really great soundtrack.

After listening to it for a

After listening to it for a long time in preparation for the HD versions, I'm going to say that I've moved from RE2 to Revelations.  I absolutely love the score.

Definately the dark tones and

Definately the dark tones and feel of RE0, the Outbreak games, and Revelations.

The Outbreak Opening is probably still my favourite to this day. Just pure epic, and tragic, and awesome.

RE2 always on top. But since

RE2 always on top.

But since most people have already acknowledged that, I'm gonna say REZero.  You''re an awesome person for recognizing its greatness, Survivor of Horror.

To me it has the best Save Theme.

Then there was also Leech Man. One of the creepiest tracks ever in an RE game for one of RE's creepiest enemies.

And while it's kinda cheating since it's a medlay, the Ending Theme is gorgeous. It invokes every kind of mood.

I used to rate CVX third after 2 and 0 but then i remembered Outbreak. Not only would I say Outbreak's Main Theme is the single greatest track ever in an RE game, it has

Extermination. Outbreak's rendition of the destruction of Raccoon City is hands down the best.

Third Time's the Charm. Best Tyrant Theme.

Also while we're talking about the end of Raccoon City and good music, what the hell is up with RE3's Ending Music?

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UmOm5KyreRk

It's a good song but...the hell? Hundreds of thousands of innocent lives lost, the few survivors scarred for life, and they think this joyous and cheerful music is how the "Raccoon City Chapter" should end?

RE3, by far. It had a strong,

RE3, by far. It had a strong, hard-edged and militant feel to it that is more memorable to me than even RE2.

My top three would likely be

My top three would likely be C:V, 5 and 2.
C:V had a really great mix of eerier tracks and a lot of intense and symphonic-sounding bits which clicked with me. I still love things like the Piano Roll version of the lullabye, the Paris break in track and the like.

5 has a great sense of unease to it and the music budget was through the roof, so it really sticks in my mind. Winds of Madness and Pray remain two of my favorite songs in the franchise.

2's music just makes the whole package even scarier than it already was. There's just something unnatural and incredibly sinister to it all. Every time I go down to the RPD basement I tense up due to the music.

I'll also give an honorable mention to Darkside Chronicles. Not only did they do some phenomenal orchestral versions of 2 and CV's music, but the Operation: Javier songs are full of so much power and drama that I was actually constantly looping the music on the main page right before the game came out.

Likewise I'd actually say that I find 4's soundtrack to be a bit underrated. It's not the most memorable music by any means, but it really gets the job done and fits with the mix of horror and action.

I used to really hate on 0's soundtrack as being monotonous, but listening back on it has made me appreciate it more. It's a great soundtrack, I think I just felt less thrilled about it due to how it drones on in the training facility after a while.

The only track I remember is the one used in, I think, the E3 trailer. Or was it in all the trailers, I can't remember. Anyway, I really liked that song and from what I can remember from playing the game, the rest of the soundtrack wasn't half bad either.

BH2 and 3 share the top place on my best overall soundtrack in the series list.

BH2 has all the tracks from the RPD, G-Birkin's themes, Escape from Laboratory and the track when you're fighting the Super T-103... BH3's got Nemesis's theme, the opening cinematic track, Missile Approaching, and who could forget the credits song?

Other games have great tracks as well, but those are the overall best soundtracks. CVX's credits/intro song is pretty good, and Zero's Training Facility main hall theme sends chills down my spine every time I hear it (I think that one track is better than any music in Rebirth).

Most of the tracks I liked were composed by Daniel Lindholm. Hopefully he will be back some day for the series.

Having played all the way

Having played all the way through Revelations, I have to put it in my top five along with RE2, RE3, CVX, and DC.  There was one track, Ancient Blood, that I really loved from the RE6 OST.  The driving beat, the urgency of the song, and the actual fight itself with Simmons really spoke to me after how bland a few of the other boss fights had been previously.

My favorite so far would have

My favorite so far would have to be RE2, it doesn't get any better than that for me. Among my favorites is the 'Police Statiion 1st Floor' ost. It is specially effective when you are reading then Operation Report 1 inside that messy room where there is the picture of a hanged man. The whole story of the last remaining police officers as they slowly start having more casualties and their mention of the rumored licker, accompained by that soundtrack trully makes me shiver even to this day.

Generally speaking, pretty much all of the RE games have a excellent soundtrack at least in the main series. RE6 was, admitedly, a little bit of a step back. It felt a little 'muted' or generic-esque at times. Or maybe I should put it like this, considering the ammount of ost that it have when compared to 4 and 5, which have plenty, I remember more from 4 and 5 than 6. But the ones that were good, were very damn good. Among my favs:
