Don't let the title mislead you. Mainly I'm posting this little idea because since I love RE so much and I've played the REmake and watched the original RE walkthrough, I thought about how awesome it would be if RE2 had REmake aswell. I LOVED RE2 so much like ALOT. Seriously it was awesome. I crapped my pants playing it but I liked how REmake came out and I'd love to see RE2 remade. Keep the game the way it was with the story line and plot but make it more suspenseful and GEE I wish they would do my idea already. -w- god I love RE. VIVA LA RESIDENT EVIL!!!!

                                                 ~Taara

P.s. I'd love thoughts and comments to this idea.

Do you have something to

Do you have something to contribute to a remake? A dedicated team could probably remake it using all the remade elements from Outbreak, Zero, Darkside, etc. with the storyboards available from Research on Bio2.

 Well... your request would

Resident Evil Spin off mod (with RE2/3 locations and side story line to the original game). The story line is still being writen at the moment, but the gameplay elements are mostly there (scripts and all).

I'd be more in favor of an

I'd be more in favor of an RE2 remake if the series in general didn't have such a hard time getting past the Raccoon City disaster.

An RE2 remake that mod is

An RE2 remake that mod is not, but it's clear a lot of work has gone into it. IceCarpediem, welcome to PU, and thanks for sharing. I'm sure those of us who play Fallout will be eager to check out the mod.

That mod looks pretty cool.

That mod looks pretty cool. I've always thought that an RE game in the Fallout style would work great; good work so far!

Unfortunately we are in

Unfortunately we are in serious need of help, experienced Fallout 3 modders in areas or modeling, mapping and animator/rigging are needed. Currently it is being purely developed by 1 person and me... more of testing, scripting, story board.

Also, we had to use lots of content from ORC, DC and UC. Else the feel just would not be right (building looks and all) but many of the rooms and areas are actually re-constructed from RE2/RE3 screenshots.

We are open to suggestions on the story line too.

Currently this is what is planned :

Part 1 : Cause and effect - confusion, fear and focus on surviving (kinda like Dead Island where the population turned to zombies over night)

Part 2 : Investigation - finding out what is going on - safe survivors, create vaccine etc etc

Part 3 : Escape - find the main cause, shutdown, bring down umbrella and explore new areas and possibility visit places from RE0/RE1 (which is kinda not following the timeline due to the mansion being blown up, but suggestions are welcomed)

We are planning to do flash back and or/parallel switching gameplay... dunno if Fallout 3's scripting allows for that but it goes like this :

You play your main char till certain parts, then the game will switch you to one of the RE char, say example Jill, and you play (as what she would do in RE3) to certain length (will not be too long) then switch back to your main char. This is a parallel game play example that the both scenario is actually happening at the same time. Flash back gameplay would bring back memory kinda thingy, maybe Chris or Jill having flash back to the mansion etc etc. Think of how the story flows in RE Revelations... something like that.

But all that is a huge undertaking in terms of scripting so... yeah... hope Fallout 3's engine can handle it.

Would never happen,

Would never happen, especially the way I would want it eg. similar to RE1 remake with prerendered backgrounds. The umbrella chronicles and outbreak were I believe Capcoms attempt to appease fans instead of making an actual RE2 remake.

A remake of RE2 and RE3 would

A remake of RE2 and RE3 would be amazing. I heard that they were supposed to remake them afer REmake but it would have pushed development of 4 too far off so they just made the ports for the gamecube. I would much rather have had the remakes over what we got in RE4.

Playing RE0 and going down to the lab from 2 always gets me thinking how the remake whould have looked.

I know, I think the same thing every time. Especially when Rebecca examines the doors and it says something like "There's no need to search this area," or "You've already searched this place." No! I want to explore!

Will there be the puzzles you have ot usually solve? Cause I had fun with those cause at the same time you'd find something else while solving the puzzles that had to do with the certain area or incident or anything about the situation.

Yes, there will be puzzles

Yes, there will be puzzles which is the likes of what we would be use to in RE2, RE3 and RE0. However, due to limitation of the FO3 engine, the presentation of it might not be what RE fans are used to... we are trying our best to make it as close as possible to retain the feel.

I've seen the vids you've

I've seen the vids you've posted of what you have so far. Nicely done! I love the shooting styyle and how the zombies come at you really reminds me a bit of Darkside Chronicles but I love it. Also how is the Crocodile enemy doin? I saw the vid you had posted of it not bad but deffinetly needs some work. Especially that glitch when it goes to grab you in its mouth, it should crunch you up and then game over. Also don't forget to add plenty blood when it doesn kill you lol.

Sorry I mean Aligator lol Oh!

Sorry I mean Aligator lol Oh! And the Birkin enemey looks absolutely FANTASTIC! Just needs a few stweeks with when he breaks the train there isn't debris on him because it looks like it causes a glitch. But still very very good on Willim I am seriously impressed.

Must say the mod is looking

Must say the mod is looking fantastic, I really hope it carries on. I'd be very interested in seeing how it all pans out.

I'd love to able to explore Raccoon City as complete as possible, I'd love it so so much.

It seems the producer of

It seems the producer of Resident Evil 6 says that with enough fan support, CAPCOM may consider an HD remake of Resident Evil 2. He also said that, in order to prevent rumors, a remake of Resident Evil 2 is not in production. He just says that CAPCOM is willing to remake it in HD should they garner enough support of fans. Now I hope people will not get there hopes up, because CAPCOM may not deliver.

He's so full of shit. This

He's so full of shit. This game has probably been the number one most requested game in the series since the first one got a remake. What's his consensus on judging support? How many copies of RE 6 sell? Fuck him and Capcom's "tests", Wii owners know what I'm talking about.

You have to take it up to

You have to take it up to CAPCOM. They are in the buisiness of making money. If they legitimately believe they can make money off a product, I see no reason why they wouldn't.

Spyborgs? Asuras Wrath? Sour

Spyborgs? Asuras Wrath? Sour Patch Kids? Any basic fan of the series would tell you a Remake of 2 would sell a LOT better then umbrella chronicles, darkside chronicles, outbreak, dead aim, or operation raccoon city.

I'm sure they do believe they can make money off every bad idea they have, but it doesn't take a level of marketing genius to see what people have been asking for, for nearly ten years.

I agree with simmaria, it's a

I agree with simmaria, it's a bunch of BS. There are loads of online pettitions for a REmake 2, people always ask about it whenever there are Q&A's to anything RE related in a Capcom unity stream. The producer said that if enough fans clamour for it then Capcom will consider making it, fans HAVE been clamouring for it for YEARS! My question is, what else do we have to do to get them to see that fans want a full on RE 2 remake? Do we have to pay for production cost? Do we have to help develop it? Do we have to beta test it? Even then we're not guaranteed that they'll do it (Megaman Legends 3). Capcom should stop lying and just say that they will never plan on making it, it'll piss us off but at least we'll stop getting our hopes up...

What's said is that he's

What's said is that he's saying they *might* do an HD remake (which to me sounds like another shitty HD port, like with CVX and RE4. RE4 already looked good, and the HD re-release barely looks different. CVX looks like shit in HD. We're not asking for a crappy cash-in HD port, we're asking for a remake akin to the one for the original.

God damn, Capcom. You know what we want. Get on it.

That's why I said don't get

That's why I said don't get your hopes up. I highly doubt that they will do it, but I'm open to the possibility.

But I think some people forget that CAPCOM is primarily a Japanese company, and the people who actually make the Resident Evil series can barely speak a lick of English. They probably pay attention to the Japanese crowd more than the American/European crowd, despite the fact that majority of their profits come from the Americans/Europeans. Because (now I may be wrong, it just seems that way) most of their employees in the Japanese branch cannot understand English very well, they tend to overlook our cries for a Resident Evil 2 REmake. The Japanese tend to look at American sales records, and they see that Resident Evil 4/5, as well as other more actiony video game franchises sell better, so they assume that is what they want.

However, they do HAVE and American branch, who I am sure speak perfect English. So all the above may not ring true, and CAPCOM is just a bunch of shitheads.

Hell no. I don't want a

Hell no. I don't want a remake, the game is perfect as it is. The idea of Capcom making a remake of BH2 only gives me the creeps thinking what could they possibly ruin as I'm sure it wouldn't be a REmake-like style of remake.

They don't have the development assets for neither of the BH games of psx anymore. They'd have to do it from scratch, or maybe reuse some assets from Outbreak as they did for UC.

It's impossible to do an HD

It's impossible to do an HD uport of RE 2 and 3 due to using CG backgrounds. If you noticed in games like the DMC HD collection, any bit of FMV use, even on the menu requires the game to scale back down to sub HD resolution and drop widescreen. The reason is pretty simple, to get the CG upscaled to HD would require you to actually re-render the entire thing, in other words. They would have no choice but to remake the game if they wanted to. This is why Code Veronica and RE 4 were chosen for the HD collection and why the Chronicles game got an HD port, because they are all polygon model based. Which is a much simpler upscale then something that was never made and cant be squashed to fit into widescreen and HD without looking really, really bad.

This is the second time today I've heard a long term fan speak of their low expectations for such a project. For years I have desperately yearned for such a thing in exactly the same fashion as REmake. However, reading what Ridley has posted made me think long & hard, and he's absolutely right.....it's perfect, and needs no update. HD wont add anything to the streets of Raccoon City & the R.P.D  because neither environment would be any the more desolate, creepy, shocking, or disturbing by adding further detail or polish. They got it so perfectly right the first time around, and there is no HD change to be made, without taking the game away from this original perfection.

This. But I would be favourable toward it if the whole events surrounding 2 and 3 were done justice. Somehow though I think it will just turn out as a blend of RE6 and ORC. That I would not be keen for.

There's the link to the

There's the link to the article that mentioned the RE2 Remake possibility:

Anyone interested can voice their support at that thread over at Capcom Unity:

I can say that I support them

I can say that I support them remaking it. If you don't like the remake, then you can play the original. A crappy remake will never ruin a great original. So I say we should try to show our support.

If they're going to go with

If they're going to go with it and actually make a remake, and not some HD port, I'm all for it. I just hope they inject the same level of characterization and /drama/ in RE6 into it. I want them all to come to life more than they did before.

Makes me wonder about the controls, though.

As long as its a remake like

As long as its a remake like REmake then I'll fuckin satisfied. Originals are badass and can never be replaced but remakes are fun too so if anyones not interested then thats your opinioni but theres plenty of people that woudl like a fuckin remake of BH2. And hopefully they'll keep or highten the background music they used for teh game. Mostly I hope they keep it cause regardless it scared teh poop out of me when i was in the main hall in the police department and the first floor aswell. OOO and don't get me started on the safe room theme.

Something years later, has

Something years later, has anyone heard any word about the main subject to this forum I'm just curious, even though I know that our wishes won't be answered any time EVER.
