Will Resident Evil 2 REMAKE take the opportunity to expand on this?

I sure hope so.

Give me the Origins of the Rival Company.

Give me some backstory on Ada.

Give me more on why Wesker and Ada defected over to them after the mansion incident.

One of the few benefits Remake 2 could provide is more information on the rival company which could tie in directly to what we are going to learn in the 7 DLC.

If the developers have a solid plan for Ada going forward, then remake 2 would be the ideal way to introduce that, and tie it in to what she goes on to do in 4, Damnation and 6.

Wesker was wanting to leave Umbrella as far back as 1988. The assassination of James Marcus made up his mind. He just bided his time and waited for the right opportunity to present itself. But given how X-Day transpired, he joined the rival company with a broken reputation and had to rebuild that reputation. The recovery of the G-Virus was a deliberate test placed upon him by his new employers.

right, because he failed to retrieve the U.M.F.-013 File? or the Talos Prototype? Is that why he had to rebuild is rep?

He planned to provide data on the T-002 as a gift to his new employers but failed in this respect because Sergei prevented him from downloading the recorded combat data.

It is believed Wesker never knew about the T-A.L.O.S.

They could add a scene of Ada recovering a Nemesis-T tissue fragment prior to the R.P.D. While only its data is mentioned in Wesker's Report, the writer confirmed it. A scenario showing her progress before meeting Leon would be ideal, and that would provide a Wesker cameo by way of an introductory cutscene. That's where his involvement in the game should end.

They should probably incorporate the Umbrella Chronicles scene of Sergei shooting at Leon from the helicopter that dropped the Tyrant if they want to take the opportunity to retroactively connect the game to others. This scene was planned for Leon's UC scenario and can still be found in the novelization.

2's story doesn't give an opportunity to talk about the rival company in any capacity. In fact, Ada was an Umbrella spy in BIO2. The rival company was conceived for CODE:Veronica.

Oh boy (sigh) so  the rival company can’t be touched on in RE2?

where is the source from btw that it wasn’t conceived until Veronica?

was it an interview from Hiroki Kato?

Those would all be nice.

You learn something new every day.

But they were involved in 2 retrospectively with RE4/UC, no? So they could be used in the remake, like the Nemesis parasite, G, and Alexia in the first remake.

Sure they can. If they are finally given a formal name in RE7 then that name can be used by Annette in Remake 2 when she reveals to Leon about Ada's background. We could also find the actual background check Annette performs on a computer for example, revealing more details about the company. Likewise new files could be created that reference them. ORC had a cool piece of promotional material where a coded warning was sent out to all Umbrella Raccoon City facilities suggesting spies from the rival company were active in the area.

There's lots of subtle things they can do without affecting the narrative of RE2. It would help connect things together that much better and it will be a massive missed opportunity if they choose not to bother.

Ada wasn't working for Umbrella in Bio2, that's 1.5 only. The Bio2 perfect capture guide refers to her working for an 'opposing corporation' and likewise the bio2 guidebook says the organisation who sent her is unknown. Code Veronica just put the meat on the bones for this by expanding on that idea.

The developers confirmed that the "certain organization" Annette was referring to was Umbrella. The Perfect Capture guide was released for the 2003 GameCube version of the game. The authors of the original guide left it unknown because it isn't stated in the game and they weren't privy to the information about it being Umbrella. Sugimura created the rival company for CODE:Veronica and it was Hiroki Katoh who linked Ada to it, whereas for Sugimura/Kawamura she worked for an underground Chinese crime syndicate. Both were factored into her story by the time 4 was released, it seems.

In the Kaitai Shinsho story sections it's also stated that Leon knew about Umbrella's successor organization being led by Wesker before BIO4 as well as heard the rumor of Ada's involvement. Rather than think of her working for Umbrella he prefers to think she died. At the end he determines that Ada isn't really working for Wesker and won't use the Plaga for evil. On the report after the credits he also talks about Krauser being behind the kidnapping and being involved with Umbrella's "remnants."

Hideki Kamiya was the one who said the organisation was unknown. If the rival company wasn't conceived till Code Veronica then I won't dispute that, but I'm not sure Ada was with Umbrella in RE2. The words 'a certain organisation' would mean anything but Umbrella considering.

Capcom have free reign to do whatever they want with remake 2, nothing is off limits and if , it's a big if, there is a plan for Ada, HCF , Wesker etc. This game is ideal

Equally they could take the opportunity to correct the broken window error with Nemesis and add small nods and winks to Outbreak. Such as an unthoard Hunter R in birkins Lab, or reference to Kevin in files and mention of the defensive gas in the RPD

I'm not referring to Kamiya. Ada was with Umbrella in BIO2.

Yes but Kamiya was the one who said she was from an unknown organisation, not 'the writers of the guidebook.'

any recent developer quotes and interviews that reference this would require them to remember information from like 20 years ago.

they are bound to not recall things correctly and make mistakes.

know what I mean?

the director of the game said Ada was with an unknown organization.

After the game's release, yes. Sequels were already being written before BIO2 was even released and Kamiya adding something to the script last minute forced Sugimura to change the main character of CODE:Veronica. During development, writing and at the time of release, she was an Umbrella spy. The idea of making it a mystery came quickly after release since they didn't mention it in the script and people asked about it. The script itself was cut down too, such as mention of William officially being director of the Umbrella chemical plant.

The rival company simply didn't exist at the time of BIO2.

well the Remake of RE2  gives Capcom a big chance to add more info right there, maybe a special edition with a renewed Wesker's Report or even another report explaining Ada's links to Simmons organization since it looks like Simmons was the one that ordered Raccoon to be bombed and wiped out from the face of the planet. that could serve as a foreshadowing of a coming RE3 Remake.

Sorry if this sounds off topic guys but anyone else having this problem while trying to log in at Biohaze?

hey Cap buddy!

yeah Biohaze is down.

Mr. Rod and Yama can fix it easy but it could take the mods a bit to track them down and even longer for them to get to it.

so it could be days.

as for searches on this site, I’ve been getting the same.

this site is officially broken.

Yes this is due to the site being ten years old and incompatible with the latest PHP and whatnot. I've been saying this for a few years but nobody has expressed interest in helping make the new site.

I would like to help, PU deserves it, the best source for RE material imo. I lack the knowledge in building sites and all that stuff, that isn't my strong point... I'm going to talk with a friend of mine, he knows how to build this stuff from the ground up.

It's a real shame. No site beats PU.

To find info, I typically click on articles displayed on the homepage, then use links within those articles to look around.

And yes, Biohaze is down for me too.

Damn, so it wasn't just a hallucination about biohaze. Lmao Laughing

Me and Chris_redfield 08 were discussing this on Bioware Social Network. We both thought we were dumb lol

Completely forgot about my projectumbrella account. Shame on me {#emotions_dlg.slap}
